AdClub participated in Relay for Life this weekend raising over $800 for cancer research. GREAT job gang!

Professor Willett's Party

The ADPR faculty and the rest of the Grady College celebrated Robert Willett's 26 years at Grady yesterday. Ron Lane returned to help us "roast" Professor Willett and wish him well. He will be retiring after Maymester. We will miss him.

Celebrating Dr. Sallot's Meigs Award

Dr. Sallot was joined at the Teaching Awards banquet by Dr. Jeff Springston, Dr. Carolina Acosta-Alzuru and Dr. Karen King.

Grady in the AJC

Dean Cully Clarke was quoted in the AJC this weekend. The topic was southern history of course.

Dr. Karen King was quoted in the AJC on Sunday April 6th regarding hospital advertising.

Grady at the American Academy of Advertising Conference

The American Academy of Advertising Conference in San Mateo this spring had a large Grady contingent. Faculty present included:

The AdClub banquet will be Tuesday, April 22nd.

Senior PRSSA Banquet a Success

The Senior PRSSA Banquet was held on Wednesday, April 16th at the Georgia Center. The attendees, including Grady students, faculty and staff, were energized by a keynote address by Dr. Lynne Sallot. As a special treat, the Bateman team presented their well-executed campaign.

Student Service Award

Rotaract has selected Public Realtions major Abby Blaylock this year’s Grady recipient of the Student Service Award. Great job Abby!

Congrats to Bateman Team

The UGA BAteman Team racked up an Honorable Mention in the 2008 Competition. As part of their innovative campaign for Safe Kids Athens, they put cameras in the hands of Athens middle schoolers to produce videos for YouTube.

The team members included: Ashley Beebe, Jarek Beem, Abby Blaylock, Audrey Califf, Sydney Carroll. They did a very strong campaign for their client.

Ad Club Atlanta Agency Tour

The AdCub took their Atlanta Agency Tour tour last week. There were 32 students in attendance. Agencies visited included: Ames Scullin O'Haire and Bennett Kuhn Varner. This was topped off with a visit to The Portfolio Center.

AdClub Banquet

The AdClub banquet will be on April 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Athens Cine.

PRSSA Banquet

The PRSSA banquet will be April 16th at 6 p.m. in the Georgia Center for continuing Education

Dean Cully Clark announced today that Dr. Kirsten Strausbaugh-Hutchinson has been named the next recipient of the Darwin-Davis Award! Thanks for all that you do for the college Kirsten!

Senior Cain Harrelson has arranged for the PSAs to be shown at new student orientation this year, and they'll be shown on a large projection screen at Earth Day, April 22, at Tate Plaza.

Dr. Lynne Sallot was named a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor for 2008! This is the highest teaching honor given at the Univeristy of Georgia.

"The Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professorship recognizes excellence in instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Meigs Professorship communicates the University of Georgia 's commitment to excellence in teaching, the value placed on the learning experiences of our students, and the centrality of instruction to the University's mission."

Congrats to Dr. Sweetser!

Kaye Sweetser was selected by the UGA Tate Society as the first-ever recipient of their Most Outstanding Young Professor Award! Each year they select someone as the Most Outstanding Senior Professor (this year it will be Loch Johnson), but this year Kaye will be the first young professor recognized with this new award.

What a terrific honor!
