16 Grady PR Students Mentored at the Georgia Chapter of PRSA Jan. 22

"Fifteen senior PR students and a master’s student – all in PR Campaigns courses this semester – were paired up with professionals sharing their career interests at the Georgia Chapter of PRSA meeting in Atlanta Jan. 22.
In addition, they heard keynote speaker, Jerry Wilson, senior vice president, The Coca-Cola Company and president, The McDonald's Division, talk about “Trying to Make Your Brand Stand Out in These Tough Times? (Maybe it all starts with you.)”
"Wilson has spent his career helping people understand their gifts and become successful leaders. His book, Managing Brand YOU, Seven Steps to Creating Your Most Successful Self, draws insight from the traits of powerful company and product brands. In his talk Wilson said, “Like Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and other world class brands, each of us can become a brand that people insist upon” – a powerful and timely message for our students."
Students who participated include Jieyu Liang, Khali Barker, Lauren Brander, Katherine Decker, Alyssa DeHayes, Ashley Duel, Andrea Feminella, Kathlene Hestir, Briggs Horn, Cameron King, Stekki Mazo, Alexandria Rizzo, Jessica Slevin, Liz Smith, Stacey Thomas and Kristin Thornton.
Neil Hirsch, professional advisor for our PRSSA chapter, and Denise Grant, COO of PRSA│GA, facilitated the pairings of each student with a professional from organizations such as Emory Healthcare, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross,
YMCA, Hope Beckham, Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, Manheim Auto Auctions/Cox, Bloomingdales, Southeast United Dairy Company, UPS, and others.
Lynne Sallot organized the outing from the Grady end, as she has done each semester for several years. (Post Contributed by Dr. Lynne Sallot)
