Social Media Marketing Bootcamp

March 2 or April 20, 9 AM to 4 PM at UGA’s Terry College of Business Executive Education Center

Social Media Marketing Bootcamp is a full-day, hands-on seminar that includes case-studies and interactive exercises to reinforce the information you will learn. Through lecture, real-world examples and discussion, class participants will have a well-rounded understanding of how social media marketing can be used for businesses, for their job, and even for career advancement.
The Bootcamp is a collaborative effort between the Department of Advertising and Public Relations in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications at University of Georgia and Guest Relations Marketing.  Each seminar is limited to 50 participants to ensure personalized learning. Lunch and parking validation is provided.

January 20, 5-6 PM in MLC 148

Digital Portfolio Workshop
January 21, 5-6 PM in MLC 150
Attend the Grady Career Center workshop to learn more about highlighting your work in an online space and marketing yourself to future employers.
January 22, 10 AM in the Peyton Anderson Form
Based on incidents last month at the University of Missouri, Smith College and other campuses – as well as at other public settings – NPPA believes there is a significant need to facilitate a broad conversation on the First Amendment rights of citizens and journalists.
As a result, the association – in collaboration with the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia (site of NPPA’s headquarters) – will host a five-hour symposium on Friday, Jan. 22 that discusses current situations in order to better educate and inform all parties on their rights and responsibilities when covering or participating news events in public spaces.
There is no registration fee to attend the program due to generous financial support provided by the Sinclair Broadcast Group. To register, go here.
UGA Majors Fair
January 26, 10:30 AM-1:30 PM in the third floor concourse and atrium of the Tate Student Center
Almost 70% of students add or change majors at least once before graduation. The beginning of the Spring semester typically sees the highest level of activity related to major selection. With all of this indecision, there will be a Majors Fair to help students figure out what they want to focus on during their time at UGA.

Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication
2016 Founders Day Lecture
January 27, 1:30-2:30 PM at the UGA Chapel
Each year, UGA celebrates the signing of its Charter, which named it the first state-chartered institute of higher education in America. To celebrate this historic anniversary, the university presents the annual Founders Day Lecture, which celebrates the ideals upon which UGA was founded: to teach, to serve and to inquire into the nature of things.
The 2016 lecture, “So You Think You’re Smarter than a Robot: The Race between Human Learning and Deep Learning,” will be presented by Thomas Reeves, Ph.D., professor emeritus of learning, design and technology at UGA’s College of Education.
Brian Heredia, a member of the Class of 2018, will provide the student response. Brian is a UGA Honors student and serves as an ambassador for the College of Education.
Can’t attend the lecture? Watch the livestream at www.ctl.uga.edu.
