AdPR's Network@Night hosted a great alumni dinner February 20th. Lauren Zarzour, Senior Digital Strategist at Vert, joined six AdPR students for dinner to discuss everything from her time at UGA to the steps she took to attain her current position.  Conversation revolved around the activities of social media agencies, the importance of internships, resume tips, and building relationships with clients. 

Network@Nights are intimate gatherings of alumni and graduating seniors. They were created to alumni and students to freely exchange questions and advice about life after Grady. There is an event each month throughout the school year.

Zarzour was honored to be the AdPR special guest for Network@Night so she can help our students in the advertising and public relations field.

"Only 5 years out of UGA, I've grown a lot - my career path has taken me through ad sales, in-store marketing for a local grocery chain, and now to my current role at Vert. I learned so much at Grady but have learned just as much since, and being able to pass that along to current students through the dinner series was a fantastic opportunity I couldn't pass up." 

The next Network@Night will be held in late March.

AdPR Network@Night Recap

On Thursday, Sept. 26, seven advertising and PR students sat down with David Jones, director of UGA's annual campaign. As a PR alumnus, David has dedicated his career to supporting and giving back to Grady. At dinner he discussed the best tools for landing a job after graduation, whether it's harder to represent an individual or a company and what the best meal in Athens is (hint: it involves "nutritional yeast"). To view the alumni spotlight on David Jones, go here.

Network@Night is designed to offer a selective group of AdPR majors the opportunity for an informal dinner with an influential AdPR alum. Network@Night with AdPR alum David Jones – Sept. 26

On Thursday, September 26, 2013 the AdPR Department will be arranging Network@Night. This informal dinner is the perfect opportunity to talk informally with distinguished alumni and AdPR friends about what happens after graduation and how to get your foot in the door.

For this event, join David Jones, PR alum and director of UGA's annual campaign, at Trappeze Pub for dinner and conversation.

Only a small group of students can attend so RSVP as soon as possible.

AdPR Department: Network@Night

This summer, the AdPR Department arranged the first Network@Night so that alums can mix and mingle with current AdPR students.

This informal dinner allowed a select group of AdPR students to network with industry professionals. The group met with Will Shields, VP/Sales of Clear Channel Media + Entertainment, and Sean Jones, VP/Sales of Millennium Sales & Marketing, at Trappeze Pub for dinner and conversation.

Not only did Sean and Will offer the group advice on job searching, interview practices, and career choices, they also gave the students the opportunity to attend Meltdown, Atlanta Broadcast Advertising Club's annual conference in Atlanta.

The next Network@Night is planned for September 2013.
