"A Grady College advertising campaign team was been named the Silver Award winner in the national Direct Marketing Education Foundation (DMEF) Collegiate ECHO campaign competition. The team developed its campaign during spring semester 2008 in Professor Joo Young Kim's ADPR 5740, Advertising Campaigns class.
Under the name of Quatro Advertising, senior advertising majors Catherine Beaver of Hoschton, Adam Shields of Grayson, Megan Kemp and Halle Amanda Meng, both of Duluth, developed their winning campaign titled "Send Yourself." Shields, Kemp and Meng all graduated from UGA in May, 2008.
The 2008 Collegiate ECHO challenge was to create a $4 million innovative and integrated direct marketing campaign, targeting small businesses, establishing the Pitney Bowes' Stamp Expressions™ Printer. This desktop printer lets customers print USPS ® approved postage designed through the Internet.
With an emphasis on using multichannel direct marketing, creativity, and technology such as blogs, social networking, and e-mail, the competition was valuable for students as they gained real-world business experience while still in the classroom.
Kim, Grady College assistant professor of advertising, had strong praise for his students. "They worked very effectively and efficiently to produce an awesome advertising plan," he said. "This award is going to be a very strong addition to their initial career as advertising professionals. This recognition also demonstrates the strength of the Grady advertising program."
The 2008 ECHO competition, sponsored by Pitney Bowes, attracted entries from colleges nationwide." (As posted on the Grady website)
