AdPR Senior Spotlight: Gerald Isaac

Gerald Isaac (ABJ 2011)
Advertising major Gerald Issac recently graduated from UGA. He also earned a degree in Marketing.

What are your plans after graduation?
I have no definite plans yet, but I hope to move to New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles and work for a larger advertising firm. I hope to focus on strategy, branding or account management.

What are your long-term career goals?
I have always had an interest in entertainment advertising/marketing, so I hope to find my way into that realm. Honestly I am just looking forward to learning as much as I can, seeing the world, and figuring out my passions.

What do you wish you had known when you entered Grady college so that you could have made the most of your experience?
There are two things as journalism majors I think are extremely important: writing and graphics skills. Most people believe they are much better writers than they really are, myself included, and I would have liked to have exposed myself to more writing classes. Writing is such a crucial skill that is so often forgotten. If you can do it well, you will be way ahead of the game. Graphic skills are becoming more important and relevant as the digital world takes over. Take the Graphic Communications classes if you can, pay attention and continue to practice what you learn so that down the line, you still have that ability in your back pocket.
